A Short Intro to Kalidasa: The Great Sanskrit Poet

Kalidasa was a classical Sanskrit writer who is believed to have lived in the 4th or 5th century CE. He is one of the most celebrated authors in Sanskrit literature and his works include plays, poems, and epics.

The most famous works of Kalidasa include the plays Abhijnanashakuntalam (The Recognition of Shakuntala), Vikramorvashiya (The Urvashi of Vikram), and Malavikagnimitram (Malavika and Agnimitra). His poems include the epic Raghuvamsa (The Dynasty of Raghu) and the love poem Meghaduta (The Cloud Messenger). Kalidasa's work is unique for its beautiful and poetic language, as well as for its insights into human psychology and the natural world. His plays are particularly known for their nuanced portrayal of human emotions, while his poems are celebrated for their lyrical and descriptive qualities. Kalidasa's work often explores the inner workings of the human mind, delving into topics such as love, jealousy, and betrayal. Heraclitus was a Greek philosopher of Ephesus. He is possibly the first Greek philosopher to explain the unity in all experience. And how change is the only constant in the universe. Heraclitus is also sometime known as the Philosopher of Riddles. For many people don't understand him. Heraclitus introduced the world with the word 'Logos', which means that 'all things are one in some sense'. Even the opposites are needed for the occurrence of action. The Concept of Equanimity !

Equanimity comes from a Latin word æquanimitas, which means to have an even mind. But the concept goes much deeper. Much of all ancient philosophies and religions talk about equanimity. Aequss meaning even, and Animus meaning mind/soul.   Marcus Aurelius, one of the stoic philosopher and an emperor in his book Meditations stated that: When force of circumstance upsets your equanimity, lose no time in recovering your self-control, and do not remain out of tune longer than you can help. Habitual recurrence to the harmony will increase your mastery of it. In the context of Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism) Equanimity is used to describe the Brahman Nature.
